- What, to you, forms the essence of a true heroine?
She must exemplify the fruits of the spirit. She must be comfortable with who she is but also willing to grow in the Lord.
Share (up to) four heroines of literature that you most admire and relate to.
Elizabeth Bennet - she's got quite a sharp wit.
Perpetua - her humility and grace just astounds me.
- Five of your favorite historical novels?
hehe! What to pick?! Perpetua, Just Jane, Pearl Maiden, Pride and Prejudice, Larkrise to Candle Ford.
- Out of those five books who is your favorite character and why?
I like bits and pieces of all of them! Perpetua was willing to die for her faith, Jane Austen loved to write about the times that she lived in, in Pearl Maiden, how do you pick just one? Pride and Prejudice - I like Jane. She's so sweet! Larkrise is a collection of characters, but I have to say, I like Dorcas Lane the most - she seems to have some of the best things to say just at the right time!
- If you were to plan out your dream vacation, where would you travel to - and what would you plan to do there?
Ireland! <3 I want to follow my family history over there and learn more about them. And the music would certainly be a major highlight
- What is your favorite time period and culture to read about?
I like to read about different times/eras - right now I'm reading about the Roman occupation of England. I also like colonial, pioneers, Civil War, early 1800's, etc.
- You have been invited to perform at the local charity concert. Singing, comedy, recitation - what is your act comprised of?
Probably flute and piano. :)
- If you were to attend a party where each guest was to portray a heroine of literature, who would you select to represent?
Maybe Lucy or Susan of Narnia :D
- What are your sentiments on the subject of chocolate?
I love chocolate. The darker the better. :D
- Favorite author(s)?
Jane Austen.
- As a small, imaginative, red-haired damsel might query; would you rather be divinely beautiful, dazzlingly clever, or angelically good? Why?
Hopefully dazzlingly clever. :)
- In which century were most of the books you read written?
Probably the romantic authors. Early to mid-1800's.
- In your opinion, the ultimate hero in literature is…
Hmm... I'd like to think of David or Jonathan in the Old Testament as heroes. But we're human. the ultimate hero is Jesus Christ who was willing to save mankind. Not just the princess locked in the highest tower. ;)
- Describe your ideal dwelling place.
A hobbit house! :D with higher ceilings. ;)
- Have you ever wanted to change a character’s name?
Not really. Most authors are pretty good with names. And if you changed them , they wouldn't be the same now would they?
- In your opinion, the most dastardly villain of all literature is...
Ooh! Satan in Paradise Lost.
- Three favorite Non-fiction books?
Joyfully at Home by Jasmine Baucham, The B-I-B-L-E. :D Can't think of anything else at the moment...
- Your duties met for the day, how would you choose to spend a carefree summer afternoon?
Summer? Sleeping in the hammock. Any other time of the year - sewing.
- Create a verbal sketch of your dream hat - in such a way as will best portray your true character.
Hat? Practical. Like my Columbia Sportswear hat. :D If we're talking for fun - I have no clue...
- Share the most significant event(s) that have marked your life in the past year.
I became allergy free. My Oma moved nearby. I bought a car.
- Share the Bible passage(s) that have been most inspiring to you recently.
Ps 139 always strikes an amazing chord in my heart. I love it. :D
